Herald dis obits today11/19/2023 She loved her family with her whole heart and loved spending time with them. Myrtle was generous to a fault, and always placed others needs before her own. She enjoyed being active, going to yard sales and spending time at the coast with her family. Myrtle was a faithful member of Victory Life Assembly of God in Cherryville, NC. and Macie Bowlin and was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters and a great grandson, Elijah Walker. She was born in Gaston County, NC, daughter of the late John A. KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC – Myrtle Mae Bowlin, 85, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on Friday, Septemat her home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cleveland County at 953 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150 or to the Building Fund at Patterson Grove Baptist Church at 301 Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Interment will be in Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC Visitation was on Tuesday, Septemfrom 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harris Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Mary Lou Wright Scism, of the home children: Julie Hawkins and husband Michael and Todd Scism and wife Laura, both of Kings Mountain, NC grandson: Justin Fite great-grandson: Dayson Fite brother: David Scism and wife Linda, Kings Mountain, NC.įuneral service will be held on Wednesday, Septemat 2:00 PM at Patterson Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Bridges and Reverend Dr. Moffett was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose guidance, wisdom, and love will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him. He served as a volunteer firefighter with Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years. Always active, Moffett was a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and a member of White Plains Shine Club for over 30 years. He especially loved fishing trip to the coast. Moffett enjoyed farming and was an avid fisherman. He worked for Eastern Airlines as a baggage handler. Moffett was a longtime member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church and served his country honorably in the US Army. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Raymond and Mary Hovis Scism and was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Nolan, Bruce, and Paul Scism. KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC – Moffett Albert Scism, 83, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on Septemat Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Guest register is available at: Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kings Mountain, NC is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held on Thursday, Septemat 11:00 AM at Oakview Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend John Bridges officiating She is survived by her sons: Jerry Valentine (Phoebe) and Bruce Valentine (Beth) daughter-in-law: Terri Valentine grandchildren: Casey Burgess (Chase), Kelly Maxwell (Wes), and Chad Jordan (Krystal) great-grandchildren: Landon and Piper Burgess sister: Maxine Black. Her love and memory will be cherished for a lifetime by all those who knew Shirley. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She possessed a sharp intellect, was an avid reader and loved puzzles. She enjoyed getting to know every student who passed through the doors and remembered those same students her entire life. Shirley worked for more than 30 years at Grover Elementary School as the school secretary. Shirley was born in Cleveland County, NC, daughter of the late Joseph Edward Bumgardner and Evelyn Hines Bumgardner and was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gerald Glenn Valentine, a son, Lyn Valentine and her brother, “Bud” Bumgardner. ![]() ![]() KINGS MOUNTAIN, NC – Shirley Ann Valentine, 87, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on Septemat Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.
